Family Planning Research

The clinical and public health faculty in the Division of Family Planning are responsible for the direct supervision and teaching of resident physicians and medical students in the clinical setting. UC Irvine is a site for the Kenneth J. Ryan Residency Training Program in Abortion and Family Planning. All clinical faculty are fellowship trained in family planning and board certified in obstetrics and gynecology by American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Our faculty participate in lectures, grand rounds presentations, journal clubs and national presentations. Division members belong to the UC Irvine Speakers Bureau, national family planning work groups, and lectures to local, regional, and national audiences.

We aim to produce high-quality research that ensures women receive evidence-based family planning care and have intended and healthy pregnancies. The family planning studies and quality improvement activities work under the premise that research done in an interdisciplinary manner yields more insightful, useful information. As such, the faculty have developed multiple, broad-reaching collaborations.
